Renee grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Law & Society and a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. Upon her law school graduation in 1991, she joined the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and lived in the Coachella Valley.
In 1994, she joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where she has spent a majority of her prosecutorial career in Specialized Units such as the Hardcore Gang Unit, the Major Narcotics Division and the Arson and Explosives Unit. In those assignments, she has prosecuted several gang murderers, large scale international narcotics traffickers and methamphetamine lab operators as well as serial arsonists.
In April 2017, she was promoted to Deputy-in-Charge of the Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Unit where she supervises 5 senior Deputy District Attorneys who handle cases of physical abuse, emotional abuse, physical neglect and financial abuse of victims 65 years and older as well as victims that are developmentally disabled adults over 18 years of age throughout all of Los Angeles County.
