JAMES A. GORTON, ATTORNEY
James A. Gorton, Gorton, Janosik & Poxon, LLP, concentrates his legal practice in the fields of Estate Planning, Living Trusts, Wills, Probate and Real Property. Mr. Gorton was admitted to the Bar by the California Supreme Court in 1982, and is a member in good standing of the State Bar of California.

Mr. Gorton is a graduate of the U.C.L.A. School of Law, and has been engaged in the practice of law since 1985 in Pasadena. Mr. Gorton opened his own practice in February 1995 as a sole practitioner, and in 1998 became a member of Gorton, Janosik & Poxon, LLP, a practice concentrating upon estate planning, trusts, wills, probate, conservatorships and guardianships. Mr. Gorton and his partners, John P. Poxon, Jr. and John T. Janosik, are all certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as Certified Specialists in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law.

Mr. Gorton is a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, and of the Rotary Club of Altadena. He is an honorary life member of the Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce.

ANNE GIFFORD EWING

Anne Gifford Ewing is an associate attorney at GIFFORD, DEARING & ABERNATHY, LLP, with a practice focused on trust and estate planning and probate and trust administration. Anne creates both simple estate plans, including wills, revocable trusts, guardianship nominations, durable powers for health care and finances, and trust-planning for the disabled, as well as more complex estate plans for high net worth individuals and families. Anne also advises clients serving as executors or trustees and represents estate and trust beneficiaries. Her clients include individuals, families, professional fiduciaries, not-for-profit institutions and private family foundations.

Anne earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She was a top-ranked member of UC Hastings’ Negotiation Team and placed nationally and internationally in advocacy competitions. She was also on the staff of the Hastings Business Law Journal. While in law school, Anne worked as a law clerk for The Capital Group Companies in The American Funds’ legal and compliance department in Los Angeles, and served the San Francisco County Superior Court as a Volunteer Mediator and as a Judicial Extern to the Probate Department. Prior to joining GIFFORD, DEARING & ABERNATHY, LLP, Anne clerked in the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) headquarters in Paris, France, where her work focused on transnational commercial arbitration cases.

Prior to attending law school, Anne worked in the global investment management industry for The Capital Group Companies. She completed the firm’s prestigious two-year management training program, The Associates’ Program (TAP), performing rotations that included investment research, marketing and human resources at a variety of U.S. and European office locations. She went on to handle communications for Capital Guardian Trust Company’s private wealth department.

Anne earned an M.A. in English and American Literatures and a B.A. in English and French Literatures, both from Stanford University.

Anne is a Los Angeles-area native and a fifth-generation Californian. She is a graduate of Clairbourn School, in San Gabriel, and Polytechnic School, in Pasadena. She now lives in San Gabriel with her husband.
