Topic: “Understanding Social Security: What You Need to Know Before You Claim”
This session will offer a practical and engaging overview of the Social Security system, including Old Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). We’ll discuss who qualifies for benefits, how monthly benefit amounts are calculated, and how key factors—such as age, marital status, and prior earnings—affect what you’ll receive. We’ll also break down the impact of WEP (Windfall Elimination Provision), GPO (Government Pension Offset), and how Social Security is taxed. We will also discuss SETARA: self-employed tax and Retirement Analysis, Real-life examples will help bring the concepts to life, and we’ll wrap up with Q&A to address personal situations and planning tips.
